About This Memorial
The Vermont Vietnam Veterans Memorial at the Sharon Rest Area honors 7,236 Vermont servicemen and women who served in Vietnam, including 138 who died there. As the first Vietnam Memorial erected in the United States, it features a stone memorial wall with an eternal flame and is located 138 miles from the Canadian border, matching the number of Vermont casualties. The site includes historical displays about US involvement in Vietnam and hosts an annual Memorial Day vigil. Its location was chosen for its resemblance to Highway One in Vietnam.

"Great reststop. I wasn't aware that it was the Vermont Vietnam Memorial until stopping there. They did an excellent job and it's the nicest reststop I have ever been to."
