Hubbardton Battlefield State Historic Site
About This Memorial
The Hubbardton Battlefield commemorates the only Revolutionary War battle fought entirely on Vermont soil on July 7, 1777. This historic site preserves the location where American forces demonstrated their ability to resist British troops in a pivotal rear-guard action during the Northern Campaign. The memorial features one of the oldest Revolutionary War battle monuments in the U.S., a marble monument erected in 1859 by local veterans and eyewitnesses. The site honors the American soldiers from Vermont, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire who fought against British and German troops in this strategically important engagement. The battlefield remains remarkably preserved, offering visitors an evocative glimpse into the Revolutionary War era with its unchanged landscape of open meadows and mountain views.

"8-14-24. I spotted a historic marker for this sight. So I traveled off the beaten trail 6 miles to the sight of the only fully fought battle on VT soil in the Revolutionary War. I enjoyed the museum, video and traversing the field in which the battle was fought. I highly recommend this museum especially if you are a history buff"
