About This Memorial

The Lake Champlain Navy Memorial and Lone Sailor Statue in Burlington, Vermont commemorates the region's significant naval history and honors all who have served in the sea services. Located at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, it features a Lone Sailor statue crafted by Vermont's Rock of Ages, the same company that created the WWII Memorial in Washington DC. The memorial specifically recognizes two historic battles: the 1776 Battle of Valcour Island during the Revolutionary War and the 1812 Battle of Plattsburg Bay. It was the first civilian site outside Washington DC to be designated as a US Navy Memorial. The granite memorial serves as a tribute to naval personnel across American conflicts involving Lake Champlain.

"Solid statue, but not unlike other statues I've seen. Dude has a sick beard though, really gotta see it in person. One star taken away because of lackluster landscaping."
