About This Memorial

Veteran's Memorial Park in Fort Worth, originally established in 1923 as Camp Bowie Park, commemorates the service of the 36th Division in World War I, who trained at the nearby Camp Bowie. The park features a red granite monument dedicated in 1950 and a 1987 bronze sculpture titled 'Duty' depicting soldiers, added to honor World War II veterans of the same division. Notable elements include missile shells and a flagpole, creating a space that honors military sacrifice across multiple conflicts. Veteran's Memorial Park, originally known as Camp Bowie Park or Camp Bowie Plaza, was dedicated in 1923 on a triangular tract in Arlington Heights. The park features simple amenities like benches and lighting, serving as a quiet tribute to veterans.

"Very well kept park and a great area to pay tribute to the 36th. My Great-Grandfather trained here in 1918."

"As a Vietnam vet I am totally disappointed in Ft Worth , & I live here. The council approved 15 million for Juneteenth museum, which is alright but the veterans has a small corner in good weather only to visit. No I'm not prejudice to anyone. The veterans of all color served & some gave all to show such small tribute is a shame. If you read this take a look at the veterans park in Paris Texas ( my home town) still outside but overwhelming to big city Ft Worth. Just saying"
