About This Memorial
The East Tennessee Veterans Memorial in Knoxville's World's Fair Park honors over 6,200 veterans from 35 East Tennessee counties who died in military service since World War I. Designed with 32 granite pylons bearing the names of the fallen, it features accessible inscriptions and a central bell tower inscribed with FDR's Four Freedoms. The memorial commemorates sacrifices from World War I through current conflicts, with names organized by conflict and county. Its creation was inspired by Knoxville businessman J. William Felton III after visiting Normandy's military cemeteries. The site adjacent to a historic railroad station symbolizes the departure of soldiers who never returned home.

"What a marvelous tribute to or fallen veterans. This memorial is very well designed, appears well taken care of, and a beautiful introflection point. To see all the sacrifices made by East Tennessee through 100 years of wars defending freedoms around the world is a truly blessed experience. Thank you for your love and service."
