About This Memorial
Veteran's Memorial Park in Manchester, NH, is the city's first downtown park, established in 1879 as a Civil War memorial. It now honors veterans of World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. A notable feature is the large octagonal World War II monument, added in 2009, which includes markers and benches inscribed with names of local veterans. The park also features a covered stage for events and trees dedicated to Manchester citizens who died in Iraq. Originally attracting 30,000 visitors for its opening, it remains a central location for memorials and public gatherings.
