St. Landry Parish Veterans Memorial
About This Memorial
The St. Landry Parish Veterans Memorial, established in 2004 and dedicated in 2014, honors all military personnel and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the United States. Located on a 2.5-acre site in Opelousas, Louisiana, it features a double pentagon monument with black granite panels, a bronze statue of a kneeling WWII soldier, and an Honor Walk-Way flanked by flags. The memorial serves as a place of education, peace, and remembrance, commemorating service members across various wars, with particular emphasis on World War II through its central statue. The land was donated by Bobby Dupre, and the project was led by chairman Pat Mason-Guillory and architect Jerome Gaudet.

"Was travelling for holidays and passing through area looking for a place to let our young kids unwind after being in car for so long. Found the memorial Park and pulled in. This is a very well put together and well cared for park honoring the locals' military sacrifices. We walked our children around the monument and explained the significance of the names and flags and how it is because of people like the ones listed here all across our country that we can have the freedom and opportunities to make this world a better place for them and their children."
