About This Memorial

The Memorial Campanile at the University of Kansas was built after World War II to honor 277 KU alumni, students, faculty, and staff who died in the conflict. Designed by architects Homer F. Neville and Edward B. Delk, the 120-foot limestone tower features a carillon with 53 bells cast by an English foundry. The memorial includes bronze doors by sculptor Bernard 'Poco' Frazier and engraved tablets listing the names of the fallen in its base. It serves as both a musical landmark with regular carillon concerts and a solemn tribute to KU's World War II casualties.
