About This Memorial

The Women Veterans Monuments at Veterans Park in Okaloosa County, Florida, honor the service and contributions of women in the U.S. military throughout history. Conceived by County Commissioner Carolyn Newcomer Ketchel, the memorial features eight life-size bronze statues representing women veterans from various conflicts, including the Revolutionary War to modern times. Notable design elements include a dedication plaza with flags, ADA-accessible trails, and a scenic boardwalk along Choctawhatchee Bay. The memorial specifically commemorates figures like Revolutionary War hero Margaret Corbin and other trailblazing women veterans. It serves as a tribute to all women who have served in America's wars, making it one of the few memorials dedicated exclusively to women veterans.

"9/4/23- This was my first time here at this woman memorial and I wanted to cry ! Very beautiful 🤩 and clean 🧼 location. Just drive to the back of the Convention center and you will see a bridge and flags poles ! There is a path to walk around and it's maybe 🤔 5- 10 minute walk around. Perfect for a good family walk. Glad there is a place to showcase our women who served in the military and still serving. Highly recommend to come here."
