About This Memorial
The Weld County Veterans Memorial in Greeley, Colorado honors the men and women of Weld County who served the United States in times of peace and war, with special recognition for those who gave their lives. Dedicated on Veterans Day in 1997, its centerpiece is a bronze statue of Pvt. Joe P. Martinez, the first Weld County resident awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in World War II. The memorial features granite slabs commemorating various US military conflicts, each displaying narratives and names of local veterans who served. Annual ceremonies are held here on Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Armed Forces Day to honor service members across multiple wars.
