About This Memorial

The Alabama Veterans Memorial Park, created by the Alabama Veterans Memorial Foundation in 2001 and donated to the City of Mountain Brook in 2023, honors Alabama's fallen service members and educates on civic responsibility. Its notable features include a Memorial Plaza, Hall of Honor listing Alabamians killed in action, and an American Flag Plaza for public recognition of veterans. The memorial commemorates Alabama veterans from World War I to present conflicts, with special recognition of Medal of Honor recipients. The site serves as both a tribute and educational resource, hosting events like Memorial Day ceremonies and offering lesson plans on military history.

"♿️ Beautiful memorial and the trail that winds throughout is paved with bricks. There is a ramp to get onto the trail and it is mostly leveled out. No steep hills. 2 handicap parking spots available near the entrance. There are so many Eagle Scout projects here, I only took a few photos to highlight these young men's efforts to make some very useful, wonderful things for the men and women who fought and sacrificed their lives for war. The memorial itself is something to see. It is a short winding trail that is wheelchair accessible and easily managed by those with mobility issues. There are benches along the way to stop, rest, reset, reflect. The art and the quotations on the inside walls are inspiring. This is a must see if you have not already been here. You can also bring your retired flags here and deposit them in the box available. I believe one of the Scout troops finishes disposal."
